Direttore / Editor-in-Chief

Renato Lancellotta is Emeritus Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. From 2014 to 2021 he has been Chair of the International Commettee on Preservation of Historic Sites and Monuments (TC301) and in 2012 he delivered the XI Croce Lecture. He authored several books on geotechnical engineering, reflecting his reaserch field of interest: experimental soil behaviour, site characterization, soil-structure interaction. He is editor of the Book Series on Built Heritage and Geotecnics, CRC Press, Taylor and Francis group, London and Editor in chief of Rivista Italiana di Geotecnica.

Emilio Bilotta is Full Professor in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Napoli Federico II (Italy). His main research interests concern tunnelling in urban areas, tunnels under seismic actions and ground improvement for seismic mitigation. He is author of more than 150 papers in in peer reviewed journals and conferences. He is member of the Technical Committees TC 104 (Physical Modelling in Geotechnics) and TC 219 (System Performance of Geotechnical Structures) of the ISSMGE and editor of the Handbook on Tunnels and Underground Works. He is editorial board member of the international journals Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology and Underground Space. He is actively involved in technology transfer as founder of a spin-off for innovative solutions in ground improvement and geotechnical engineering (Smart-G).

Daniele Cazzuffi is leader of the “Geosynthetics and Environmental Geotechnics” group at CESI SpA, a consulting engineering company in Milano. He has been involved, in Italy and abroad, in research and design programs regarding the use of geosynthetics in the field of geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering. He is author or co-author of more than 250 papers and an active member of many different national and international technical committees. He has been President of IGS (International Geosynthetics Society) from 2002 to 2006 and today he is President of CEN (European Committee on Standardization) TC 189 and President of the Italian Chapter of IGS.
