Viscoelastic analysis of one dimensional soil consolidation

The primary and secondary parts of the observed compression behaviour of soils can be separated with the help of a numerical procedure utilising digital computers, based on a chain of Kelvin units and a non linear dashpot element to represent the onedimensional compression behaviour of soils. Distribution functions for the retardation spectrum facilitate easy computation of the viscoelastic parameters involved.

The analysis is simple, fairly accurate and compares more favourably with the experimental results than some of the typical analyses proposed earlier.
